KISH: Tell us about you..

I grew up in Galveston, Texas where I graduated from Ball High School. I received my bachelor’s from Texas State University and am currently pursuing my master’s at Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, GA. I have been working in the entertainment industry for 15+ years. As a dancer and actress, I have had the pleasure of gracing the stage and screen with some of the greatest artists and actors in the world.

KISH: What is your dream and how will accomplishing your dream benefit you and others?

Dacía James : Most of my dreams have already become a reality as I have been afforded the opportunity to do what I love to do full-time. One thing on my vision board that I haven’t accomplished is becoming a best-selling author and traveling the world as a speaker. My hope is to inspire the next generation to dream B.I.G. (Believe in God), work hard, and wait well. Your dreams will become a reality.

KISH: Who or what inspired you to pursue this dream?

Dacía James: Debbie Allen has been my role model since I was a kid. As a multi-hyphenate in the entertainment industry. She is the epitome of dreaming big and refusing to put herself in a box. She is an actor, dancer, director, producer, and philanthropist to name a few. Debbie Allen is the golden picture of what is possible, and she continues to inspire me to dream a bigger dream.

KISH: What challenges have you encountered while pursuing your dream?

Dacía James: Independent authors have great stories to tell, but may not immediately reach the best-sellers list because of exposure and the full force of a publishing company team.

KISH:Who or what inspired you to keep pushing regardless of the challenges you’ve encountered?

Dacía James : My husband is my biggest cheerleader. He is constantly affirming my purpose and encouraging me to stay focused and keep pushing. When it seems overwhelming he reminds me to take it one step at a time. “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” (Disclaimer: I am not encouraging elephant eating.)

KISH: Please provide final thoughts/advice for others by finishing this sentence… dream.

Dacía James : Dream B.I.G. and write your vision down so you can see it in plain sight. Encourage yourself every day and believe that it will happen tomorrow. Wake up in expectation and trust the plan and process. Dream B.I.G., work hard and wait well. It will happen!
