KISH: Tell us about you.
LaQuisha Martin- Carter is a family-oriented mother of three children and by day a self-made Serial Entrepreneur.
KISH: What is your dream and how will accomplishing your dream benefit you and others?
LaQuisha: I am dreaming of how I can contribute within the community by positively impacting the future of our youth. By helping the youth and collaborating with other nonprofit organizations, that’s making a difference every day and sometimes these small organizations often get overlooked. Supporting them by working to have them receive their recognition for their efforts.
KISH: Who or what inspired you to pursue this dream?
LaQuisha: The reason for my passion was driven by being a single mother of three. Small nonprofit organizations were heavily involved within my household, the programs offered mentoring and sports activities that influenced my household. These programs were there to step in and offer team building activities that filled the void in single mother home as I often worked long hours and worked on my education.
There are so many small nonprofits around that makes a difference in our children’s lives. They are an integral part in the success of our young adults and the programs offered have an everlasting impact on their lives.
KISH: What challenges have you encountered while pursuing your dream?
LaQuisha: These programs are necessary and the challenges of funding. Out in community raising, collecting donations, for them to have all the needed essentials to operate programs. I enjoy the journey by doing my part and it is a common challenge for us all.
KISH: Who or what inspired you to keep pushing regardless of the challenges you’ve encountered?
LaQuisha: The love and passion for our youth does not allow me to take NO for an answer. Those children are the main reason I remain motivated to keep pushing.
The ultimate goal is to stay focused and on task because so many small nonprofits programs are birthing successful adults daily. Our next doctor, politician, school teacher, nurse, lawyer, emergency personnel, sports entertainment business, etc
KISH: Please provide final thoughts/advice for others by finishing this sentence… dream.
LaQuisha: The chances of success are always better for our youth when we all are involved and on one accord. We must continue to fight to keep our youth in front of positive activities and give them opportunities to achieve all of their desires.
As the saying goes… “An idle mind is the devil’s playground
