KISH: Tell us about you..
I am a native of Swainsboro, Georgia who now resides in Conyers, GA. My Bachelor’s Degree in Business was obtained at Paine College. My first Master’s degree is in Curriculum and Instruction and my 2nd Master’s Degree is in Library Media. I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, a best friend, and my favorite people call me “ma”. I am currently employee as a Library Media Specialist for Dekalb County School District.
KISH: What is your dream and how will accomplishing your dream benefit you and others?
Tracie: My dream is to see black children gain knowledge through reading enrichment. I want them to challenge themselves by increasing their reading levels and comprehension skills. By accomplishing my dream of becoming an author/writer, I am creating books with characters that resemble black children and stories that resonate with black families. Once our children see themselves as the main character in positive stories with relatable endings, they will become more aware of their decision making as well as unlock the superpowers they naturally possess.
KISH: Who or what inspired you to pursue this dream?
Tracie: I’m inspired daily in my role as a wife to an extremely creative being and as a mother of three amazing black boys. Each day with them has been nothing less of an adventure. Previously, I worked as a parent educator to a variety of families and was able to encourage them through research and my personal journey as a mom. These experiences have contributed to my pursuit of writing.
KISH: What challenges have you encountered while pursuing your dream?
Tracie: I can be hard on myself at times and sometimes I second guess myself. I am my biggest challenge.
KISH: Who or what inspired you to keep pushing regardless of the challenges you’ve encountered?
Tracie: My spiritual foundation instilled in me from my parents always encourages me to keep going. I wear my favorite scripture daily Phil 4:13.
KISH: Please provide final thoughts/advice for others by finishing this sentence… dream.
Tracie: To anyone of any color, age, or gender…all of us were born with our own special gifts, tap into yourself and execute that dream! Love Ya.
