KISH: Tell us about you..
Daija Bastian is the founder and creative director of RawPwrr. Born and raised in Miami, FL. Daija is an Albany State University Alumni and is currently pursuing her masters while living out her dream of being a fashion designer.
KISH: What is your dream and how will accomplishing your dream benefit you and others?
Daija: The ultimate dream is to be in the position to create opportunities for everyone around me, it’s bigger than just what I can accomplish for myself. “We measure success by how many people successful next to you” – Jay Z. When I’m able to accomplish this goal then I will be fulfilled.
KISH: Who or what inspired you to pursue this dream?
Daija: My family has always been the inspiration to my dreams & goals because growing up I learned with every step you take in life having a solid tribe behind you is always better than trying to do it on your own. Everyone needs someone & I need my tribe.
KISH: What challenges have you encountered while pursuing your dream?
Daija: I would say I’ve experienced a lot of challenges along this journey of entrepreneurship from day to day operations, to financial hardships but I can’t complain because God has always made a way for me .
KISH: Who or what inspired you to keep pushing regardless of the challenges you’ve encountered?
Daija: God & my tribe always keep me going even when I feel like I don’t have any fight left in me. On those days where I feel lost and unfulfilled, I say a prayer, listen to some gospel music, then I call my mom/dad to vent and allow them to feed life into me. We all have those days, it’s a great feeling to know that you are loved and that you have someone in your corner no matter the situation.
KISH: Please provide final thoughts/advice for others by finishing this sentence… dream.
Daija: Dream beyond the stars, believe that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to! Don’t let anyone discourage you or project their fears onto you, Show them that it can be done!
