Haywood: I’m a native Washingtonian, the middle child of 4 children, raised by a hardworking and wise Mother, that made so many sacrifices for her kids and grandchildren. I wasn’t great in school, but that didn’t stop me from reading countless books to broaden my knowledge base. After dropping out of high school, and my girlfriend telling me she was pregnant, I decided to venture out to Los Angeles with my older brother and friends in search of a Recording Contract. Once we arrived in LA, we performed on the streets of Hollywood, until we were discovered by Delicious Vinyl records. From there my band and myself was featured in popular music videos with Young MC, among others. Once my son was born, he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and I had to make a tough decision whether to continue pursuing my dream in LA or try back home in DC to be closer to my son. Since then, I’ve worked with disabled children, and behind the scenes in the Entertainment industry from Public Relations to Event Productions.
KISH: What is your dream and how will accomplishing your dream benefit you and others?
Haywood: My dream is to inspire anyone that maybe going through a tough patch in their lives at the moment, as well as become a best selling author and popular public speaker. Accomplishing my dreams will benefit me by giving me the freedom to speak with others about my life experiences, to hopefully guide others experiences the same life challenges.
Haywood : My Mother and reading the lifestory of great leaders such as Malcolm X and John D.Rockefeller inspired me greatly.
Haywood : Raising a son with disabilities was a major challenge for me, Having to understand his medical condition and have the patience to assist him.
KISH: Who or what inspired you to keep pushing regardless of the challenges you’ve encountered?
Haywood: My Wife and having the faith in a Higher Power inspires me constantly to keep pushing and to stay positive in the process.
