K.I.S.H. – What is your business dream/vision and how will accomplishing it benefit you and others?

Author Valencia – My dream/vision is to now open a transitional home for young ladies ages18-22. To also dream of having a location to provide unhoused and underserved youth and veterans with hot showers. beds, clothing, meals and the mental, physical and spiritual guidance they need. The benefit will be me giving back to the community that poured into me when I needed it. It will benefit others by decreasing homelessness that results in crime.

K.I.S.H. – Who or what inspired you to pursue this business dream/vision?

Author Valencia – My Inspiration comes from the clients and families I serve as there is still more needed. I have encountered thus far as well as one of my mentor Dr. Annette Johnson and writing a chapter in her book collaboration. My testimony in this book truly delivered me and allowed me to be transparent. It let me know that many thought would break me, just made me stronger.

K.I.S.H. -What challenges have you encountered while pursuing your business dream/vision?

Author Valencia –The challenges I encountered while pursuing my dream/vision include Knowing that my clients to whom I have love for are being provided end of life care in my home while on Hospice. As they say, “life was life-ing”. Went through mental, verbal, abandoned, messy and an abusive marriage that led to divorce. It took a toll on me with a yearlong intermittent hospital stay concerning my Blood Pressure, losing income and transportation while being separated. But with God all things are possible, and I am practicing self-care and focusing on to the next.

K.I.S.H. -Who or what inspired you to keep pushing regardless of the challenges you’ve encountered?

Author Valencia – I am inspired by God, Family, Friends. Raising twin boys at the tender age of 16 while finishing high school and working full time all at the same time. I am now blessed with 5 Grandchildren; 4 of them being girls truly inspires me to keep pushing regardless of the challenges I encounter.  I must be an inspiration for them and those following in my footsteps.

K.I.S.H. -Please provide final thoughts/advice for others with a similar business dream/vision.

Author Valencia- My final thoughts or advice for other Womenprenuers would be to set your goals and do everything in your power every day to work towards accomplishing those goals. To let nothing or no one hinder you no matter your situation or economic status. Remember not to compare yourself to others and their achievements because you bring your own unique gifts, talents and experience to the table; so do not be intimidated by the ladies who have been afforded more opportunities than you.
